Chemistry: Atomic & Molecular Weights

QUICK VIEW

  • HW: Work on Reuse Project Version 2 due Wednesday.

  • CW: Adding notes to the foldy-thing (in notebook).

  • DN: What is the atomic weight of krypton?

  • Reminder: Don’t forget to turn in Gummy Bear mini-lab report via Google Classroom.

LESSON OUTLINE

5min Students complete the Do Now by using periodic table to find the atomic weight/mass of Krypton.

15min Teacher overviews how to find the number of neutrons in an atom. Teacher and class find the number of neutrons for multiple atoms (gold, silver, aluminium, sulfer, and argon).

15min Teacher overviews how to find the molecular weight of H2O. Teacher and class find the molecular weights of multiple molecules (CO2, CH4, CH2O, C6H12O6, and NaCl).

10min Students add their own notes in the foldy-thing (notebook) on how to find the number of protons for an atom and how to find the molecular weight.

5min Collect materials. Clean up. Wrap up.
