Got old tech?

Please donate.

Yearbook (Journalism) and Multimedia Classes are short on equipment. Most have no funds budgeted for them and most equipment is obtained through grants and parents’ generous donations of old computers and other equipment. However old computers are eventually too old to update or need hardware upgrades to keep trudging along. Additionally, most programs are short on cameras and other needed tech. If you have any of the items below to donate, please contact your school’s Yearbook/Journalism advisor.

  • iMac 2017 or newer

    Apple Computers

Any iMac or MacBook from 2017 or newer. (Although 2015-16 models can still be useful.)

Why Apple computers? They got AirDrop which allows easy sharing of large files. Additionally, all their monitors are color calibrated, making them perfect for a video and photography workflow.

  • Apple iPhone X (10)

    Apple Smartphones

Any model from iPhone 8/SE2 or newer. (Additionally, any iPad 5th generation and up.) They are ideal for recording quick videos.

Why Apple and not Android? Apple smartphones have AirDrop which makes it easy to transfer multiple large files quickly to an iMac for editing.

  • Canon Rebel T6

    DSLR Cameras and Lenses

Do you have a DSLR or mirrorless camera you rarely use? Is it less than 10 year old? How about donating it to a program that will put it to regular use?

Canon, Nikon and Sony are used regularly. Any corresponding lenses and SD cards are also appreciated.

  • Crucial SSD 500gb

    Solid State Drive Upgrade

We can extend the life of older iMacs with an SSD upgrade. It’ll double the speed and allow for software updates.

Upgrade requires: [a] 500GB SSD (1TB SSD would better), and [b] Adhesive Strips to reseal the computer. (Provided links are recommendations.)
