Got old tech?

Please donate.

Yearbook + Multimedia (Journalism) is short on equipment. There are no funds budgeted for the course and all equipment has been obtained through grants and a parent’s generous donation of old computers. However most of our computers are now too old to update or need hardware upgrades to keep trudging along. Additionally, we are still short on cameras and other tech. If you have any of the items below to donate, please let me know.

  • iMac 2017 or newer

    Apple Computers

Any iMac or MacBook from 2017 or newer. (Although 2015-16 models can still be useful.)

Why Apple computers? They got AirDrop which allows easy sharing of large files. Additionally, all their monitors are color calibrated, making them perfect for our video and photography workflow.

  • Apple iPhone X (10)

    Apple Smartphones

Any model from iPhone 8/SE2 or newer. (Additionally, any iPad 5th generation and up.) They are ideal for recording quick videos.

Why Apple and not Android? Apple smartphones have AirDrop which makes it easy to transfer multiple large files quickly to our iMacs for editing.

  • Canon Rebel T6

    DSLR Cameras and Lenses

Do you have a DSLR or mirrorless camera you rarely use? Is it less than 10 year old? How about donating it to a program that will put it to regular use?

We use Canon, Nikon and Sony cameras but will gladly take a Fuji. Any corresponding lenses and SD cards are also appreciated.

  • Crucial SSD 500gb

    Solid State Drive Upgrade

We can extend the life of our current iMacs with an SSD upgrade. It’ll double the speed and allow for software updates.

Upgrade requires: [a] 500GB SSD (1TB SSD would better fit our needs), and [b] Adhesive Strips to reseal the computer. (Provided links are recommendations.)
