Chemistry: DHMO

QUICK VIEW

  • HW: Work on your project (Experiment or Scientific Test).

  • CW: Article CER + Naming Practice

  • DN: What information can you find on the periodic table?

  • Reminder: Before starting on your project make sure you set up your data table first. Changing test or experiments is a 10% deduction on the project grade.

Naming Molecules Handout

LESSON OUTLINE

5min Students complete the Do Now by answering question in their notebooks.

20min Class reads the DHMO article and write a CER on banning the chemical. CERs are shared with class.

10min Teacher demonstrates how to name a molecule using prefixes and adding β€˜ide’ at the end. Class names the following molecules: NH3, CO2, ClF, and H2O. Students write a quick summary on how to name a molecule.

5min Class addresses banning dihydrogen monoxide again.

5min Students sign-up for their project experiment or scientific experiment.

5min Collect materials. Clean up. Wrap up.
