LESSON OUTLINE

5min Students complete the Do Now by answering the question.

10min Students cut out island pieces with all the collected data recorded on them.

15min Students use the data collected (fossil age and type, rock layer type, mountain rock age & type, and location of glacial till) to determine how and which islands used to go together. (Note: Pieces can be rotated to align them according to the data. There is no perfect fit.)

15min Students will glue pieces down on a separate sheet of paper and explain their logic. (Add details. β€œThe mountains match.” is not specific enough. How do you know the mountains match?)

5min Clean up. Wrap up.
