Dihydrogen Monoxide (DHMO) Article
LESSON OUTLINE
5min Students complete the Do Now.
10min Class reads the DHMO article and write a CER on banning the chemical. CERs are shared with class. (A=DHMO; B=Harmful Stuff; C=Ban/Illegal)
10min Teacher demonstrates how to name a molecule using prefixes and adding ‘ide’ at the end. Class names the following molecules: NH3, CO2, ClF, and H2O. Students complete the worksheet by naming all molecules.
10min Finish worksheet by completing doodle drawings and simplified forms (glued in notebook p56).
5min Class addresses banning dihydrogen monoxide again.
5min Collect materials. Clean up. Wrap up.
