5min Students complete the Do Now by answering question in notebook.
5min Teacher instructs students on requirements for the Mineral Hat (Name, Formula, Colour, Streak Colour, Hardness, Crystal Structure, and Interesting Fact). Must be glued together (no staples or tape) and stay on your head even when shaking your head without pins or fasteners. Hats can include visors, top hats, crowns, helmets, bonnets, and should show engineering in its construction (it must be built around a stable structure). No tube hats/headbands/billboards/folded paper hats.
MINERALS: Cuprite, Wulfenite, Azurite, Tobernite, Siderite, Uranophane, Cinnabar, Olivine, Cleiophane, Orpiment, Pentagonite, Sugilite, Magnetite, Spherocobaltite, Calcite, Graphite, Mimetite, and Aurichalcite.
5min Students research minerals.
20min Students construct their Mineral Hats.
5min Clean up. Wrap up.
Rock Cycle: Card Game

15-20min Rock Cycle Card Game. Students model the steps and processes of the rock cycle by playing the card game and trying to get rid of the picture cards (lava, sediments, igneous rock, metamorphic rock, and sedimentary rock). Teacher monitors and assists groups that have questions.
5min Random Rock Cycle

Rock Cycle: Crystal Structures
HW: Start working on your projects. (Pair due Monday, 12/2. Solo due Monday, 12/9.) Look up Rube Goldberg machines for inspiration.
